Overview

An unplanned medical emergency visit such as in the case of a heart attack, difficulty in breathing, food poisoning, accidents, stroke, severe pain, labour pain etc leads you towards the Accident & Emergency section of a hospital. The Emergency Department provides immediate pain relief, stabilizes the patients and is a place where you can get immediate medical attention when it is crucially needed.  

 

The Emergency Department at Manipal Hospitals is a 24-hour fully-equipped medical centre which caters to all kinds of accident victims and emergency cases. It sees approximately 100 patients on a daily basis and provides immediate medical relief for situations such as poisoning, acute asthma, strokes, seizures, heart attacks, burns, excessive bleeding, labour related complications and various other traumas. The Emergency Department provides immediate pain relief, stops bleeding, clears obstructions in airway, stabilises and many times resuscitates the patient. After providing this initial bit of relief, patient requiring critical medical help is shifted to the required specialised department for further treatment. If not required, the patient is discharged after the emergency is treated and the required medication is given.

 

The Emergency Department at Manipal Hospitals is a state-of-the-art medical care centre equipped with the latest X-ray machines, CT scans, MRI scans, ultrasounds, ventilators and the like.  Medical supplies are available at all times from the 24-hour in-house pharmacy as is blood from the NAHB accredited blood bank. The doctors and other medical staff are highly experienced in the field of emergency medical care. They are highly accomplished in providing urgent medical or surgical care, comforting the patients and their caregivers and providing basic and advanced life support.

 

The Accident & Emergency section at Manipal Hospital is divided into two departments: Adult Emergency and Paediatric Emergency.

 

Adult Emergency

 

The Adult Emergency Department is staffed with physicians and nurses qualified in providing emergency medical care.  This department provides initial care, stabilization and management of patients arriving at the hospital with acute medical or surgical emergencies, major trauma and obstetric emergencies. It is well-equipped to deal with these emergencies and deals with about 70 – 80 patients every day. Our team of well trained in-house doctors and nurses with specialist support are available round the clock to take care of your every medical needs and thus, have access to bedside X- rays, ultrasound scans, CT scans, MRI scans and blood products from the blood bank at all times.

Paediatric Emergency

 

Unlike adults, children are not much aware of the complexities of health problems and their treatments. They tend to be very confused and scared as to what is happening with and around them. Thus, health professionals experienced in paediatric care ensure that young patients receive the attention they need, in an environment that is sensitive to their unique medical and emotional needs. Quick, quality and compassionate care is our trademark when dealing with paediatric patients requiring urgent care for medical or surgical emergencies, trauma and poisonings.
